AFRIDAC’s Advocacy and Mentoring Programme: A three year independent Evaluation on the programme’s short and long term impact on London’s African and Afro-Caribbean communities

PROCESS

Impact Evaluation

African Development and Advocacy Centre (AFRIDAC) is a London-based organisation that works towards empowering the African and Afro-Caribbean community in the UK.

AFRIDAC was founded in 2009 by its Director, Oladapo Awosokanre, in response to a significant gap in support for the specific needs of the African community.

AFRIDAC aims to provide a platform and voice for the African community by influencing social change through research, community collaboration, policy engagement and capacity-building.

In 2022, AFRIDAC received a three-year grant from Trust for London, supplemented by a three-year National Lottery Reaching Communities grant, to deliver the AFRIDAC Advocacy and Mentoring Programme

The Programme will provide training and mentoring to 30 individuals from African and Afro-Caribbean backgrounds, aiming to equip them with the advocacy skills, confidence and voice to drive community social change.

The Project Brief

AFRIDAC approached CSC to carry out an independent evaluation to evidence the impact of this new Advocacy Programme over the three-year delivery period. The evaluation will assess the immediate impact on the community advocates themselves and also to demonstrate its longer-term and broader impact on London’s African and Afro-Caribbean community.

Our Approach

So far, CSC has delivered an interim report, and will work towards a full evaluation report in Year 3, which will include an overall assessment of the programme’s achievements: case studies; and, broader recommendations for AFRIDAC and funders, infrastructure organisations and local authorities working with the organisation

To ensure this project is a success, CSC is drawing on its extensive experience working with organisations led by marginalised communities, embedding cultural sensitivity and our relational approach to ensure a positive and uplifting experience for all those participating in this evaluation.

CSC is excited to continue to work with AFRIDAC to capture all the significant and meaningful outcomes across this three year evaluation period.
